THE WAYWARD WIND

DEVELOPED with the support of VIC Screen and Screen Australia

Synopsis: Middle-aged long-hauler May spends her life between the safety of her truck cab and laughing on the hard bitumen outside it, where she’s known and loved by her truckie community. This nomadic lifestyle of stability and routine is thrown off course by an invitation to her daughter’s wedding in the lakeside community she used to call home. Back on the lakes and confronted with her past, May struggles to stay afloat amongst the chaos of family life. As the frigid relationship with her daughter begins to unthaw, May must contend with her most bitter foe, her own mother. With the wedding looming large and disaster hanging in the air, the three women are each forced to reject expectations of motherhood, and find the grace to accept each other and themselves.
